Work Placements
Work Placements provide a valuable bridge between education and employment for individuals, offering experiences that shape both personal and professional development.
The LTA offer various opportunities, inclusive of Work Experience, Internships and University Placements. Read more about the benefits these placements offer you, and some success stories to date.
Our top 5 benefits of completing one of our Work Placements:
1. Real-world experience
Work placements allow you to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. This practical experience enhances your understanding of your field of study and prepares them for the challenges of their future careers.
2. Skill development
Placements help in developing both technical and soft skills. You gain hands-on experience with industry-specific tools and processes, while also improving communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
3. Improved employability
Work placements make a CV stand out. Having practical experience can give you an edge over other candidates in the job market, demonstrating that you have already worked in a professional environment and understand the industry's expectations.
4. Increased confidence
Gaining experience and getting feedback in a professional setting boosts confidence. You also become more adept at handling various situations, which can make you more adaptable to future challenges.
5. Potential job offers
Many companies offer full-time positions to individuals who perform well during their placements. It’s often easier to get hired by a company you've already worked for, as they know your abilities and work ethic. Read more below on some of our sucess stories.
As an Intern, I have had the opportunity to work across various departments, allowing me to further develop my interests, skill set and knowledge. Everyone I have worked with so far has been very helpful and supportive on a day-to-day basis, which has enabled me to build strong relationships and grow in confidence. Coming into the LTA I didn’t know what to expect due to the way Tennis is often perceived, so there was always that sense of imposter syndrome. However, working within the Delivery Team, I have been reassured that my contributions are valued with our team’s goals and the LTA’s vision of “Tennis Opened Up” The LTA is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking to get their foot in the door in the sports industry, achieve goals as part of a team, and be part of an inclusive environment where every voice is heard. I am grateful to be in the position and aim to continuously build on my passions for sport.
My experience working at the LTA has been incredibly positive. From the moment I started as an intern last year, I felt like part of the team and connected to the organisation’s wider vision of ‘Tennis Opened Up’. Throughout my internship, I’ve had the valuable opportunity to work across various departments, which has given me a well-rounded understanding of the organisation and allowed me to learn and grow in a short space of time. These experiences have not only deepened my knowledge but also played a key role in helping me secure my new role as an Event Assistant within the Major Events team. I’m excited to take this next step and continue my journey with the LTA, working alongside such welcoming, supportive colleagues who truly embody the organisation’s values.
I was fortunate to join the LTA as an Operations Intern at the National Tennis Centre as part of my undergraduate degree. This experience not only built upon the knowledge I had developed at university but also provided valuable insight into the industry. I was regularly exposed to various facets of the business and had the opportunity to engage with colleagues across multiple departments. This exposure has been instrumental in preparing me for my current role within the Performance Team. Returning to the LTA was a no-brainer. I’m incredibly grateful—not only for the chance to complete an internship here, but also to begin my post-university career in an organisation filled with passionate and supportive colleagues.
I am proud to be part of the LTA, an inspiring and rewarding workplace where I am constantly supported to grow both personally and professionally
My journey at the LTA started 2 years ago, when I was part of a fantastic placement programme for master’s students. During the placement year, I learned far more than anything that could be taught in a classroom.
Hard work, paired with the LTA’s inspiring work culture enabled me to secure a full-time role after my placement. Now, my day to day role at the LTA involves supporting our British athletes at the biggest stages and I couldn’t enjoy it more.
